On 16 January 2024, UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) Advisory Committee on Malaria Prevention (ACMP) published updated malaria prevention guidelines for travellers from the UK. Details by country are available through TravelHealthPro/ NaTHNaC.
Guidance on prevention still includes Awareness/Bite prevention/ Chemoprophylaxis /Diagnosis and treatment (ABCD). It is noted that children are at particular risk of severe and fatal malaria; therefore, parents are advised against taking infants and young children to malarious areas without adequate precautions. If travel is unavoidable, infants and children should be well protected against mosquito bites and receive appropriate malaria chemoprophylaxis.
